MXS Racing cylinder Racing / Sport

At present, the Minarelli vertical engine is one of the most widespread engines in France. In fact, this engine powers a lot of highly sought-after scooters and great classics: the MBK Booster/Yamaha BW’s, MBK Rocket, Stunt and so forth…

That’s why Maxiscoot took a keen interest in these engines from the word go and is now proud to be able to present its new high-end cylinder kit; a kit which has been designed for this engine especially and which happens to be the first cylinder within our product range MXS RACING PARTS.

This product is the outcome of a few months’ work and years and years of experience in the field of two-stroke engines. We only pursued one goal, which is to satisfy your specific needs by offering an innovative, high-end-performance product of impeccable quality which until now has not been distributed in this form yet!

The manufacture of this cylinder kit was repartitioned into the following stages of production: in a first step, we conceived and designed our cylinder kit on the computer, at the bosom of our internal Research & Development Team, using specialist ‘CAO’ (computer-aided design) software. In order to implement our design, we created a model in plastic (i.e. polyamide) by way of laser sintering (a swift method of prototype manufacturing) and were therefore able to switch from 3D to the actual manufacturing process; which resulted in us holding our very first MXS cylinder kit in our hands shortly thereafter.

Once we completed this stage, we approached one of the best manufacturers of cylinder kits in Europe, to whom we disclosed our endeavours. In a first step, he produced the various moulds (for the cylinder and the cylinder head) and then he manufactured the first prototypes of the MXS RACING kit for us, in aluminium.

Once we got hold of our first prototypes, we tested them several times, both on the race track and on the test bench. This phase has permitted us to enhance the prototypes (we modified the combustion chamber, the intake, the piston and the gear) so as to obtain two final types of MXS cylinder kits: the "Racing" and the "Sport" kit.

The Racing edition is the ultimate weapon for developing maximum performance, be it the purpose of racing or just for a casual past-time, up until 18.5 HP, without any particular preparation. Angle area timing (diagrams): 196°/132°/134.

The Sport edition has been conceived for a more frequent usage (for daily commute for example) whilst still allowing for a way-above-average performance, even though we applied a basic configuration. The only differences between the Racing edition and the Sports edition have to do with the cylinder head and decreased bores. This affords a maximum of torque, even in the lowest rev-range and hence simplifies the fine-tuning.

You may use the Sport edition with both original or third-party exhaust pipe (Yasuni R, Doppler…), a carburettor ranging from 17.5 to 21 mm, an original ignition etc. Angle area timing (diagrams): 189,4°/123,6°/125,8°

The first two series of these editions will soon be available at your local retailer.
