The scooter scene
Introduction
In the last couple of years, scooter racing experienced a vast, unprecedented rise in popularity within the scooter community. More and more aficionados are interested in these "new" (actually not really new) type of races and want to part-take.
Since 2002, the number of participants at such events is constantly on the rise. Initially mainly to be found in states neighbouring our beautiful France (e.g. in Germany: the DSSC event, in the Netherlands: the SBO races, among others), the first championship of scooter-racing in France emerged in 2006.
The French aficionados were not properly serviced however, given the low numbers of events of this kind which took place in France. Given our rather healthy appetite for this type of sport, we tried absolutely everything to bring about an organised French community. And, we made it and the times when we had to drive hundreds of kilometres in order to take part in races abroad are well in the past.
ScooterPower !
The creation of the ScooterPower Association in the year 2005 was the beginning of the ongoing satisfaction of scooter-racing-related appetites. A few young pilots decided to establish an association in order to allow French people to fully indulge in their passion for high-end scooters whilst not having to worry about health & safety.
Arnaud, Charlotte, Fabien, Flo, Jo, and Mélanie belong to the inner circle and were helped by loads of people whom we can’t all list here. All of them were always and still are totally committed to developing and managing French events relating to two-stroke engines and, more specifically, scooter races (i.e. acceleration over 150 metres).
Several areas of interest for scooter and moped fanatics are being covered: street wear dedicated to scooter-tuning and racing, events (with camping, sound system, shows and food on the site), the races as such (i.e. a proper races with accurate timing and proper starting lights), all of these can all be found at the home of the association: le site www.scooterpower.fr.
The site chosen for these events is in line with the high-flying ambitions of the scene: we’re talking about the European Carting Race Track in Salbris, (in the centre of France). The place is set up especially for these occasions and is divided in a racing area and a stunt area, and there is of course a sales tent containing the biggest teams’ booths as well as such from other professionals, businesses and private individuals.
The three words “passion, professionalism and safety” define the state of mind and the objectives of this association of young dedicated and motivated aficionados. The best proof for the success of this association is the growing popularity of the respective events and meetings which also expresses itself by a growing number of regulars at the events.
Long live Scooter Tuning !!!
Yours, Team Maxiscoot
