Improved Transfer Port Design
Gas flow volume and speed depend on size and shape of the transfer ports which is usually limited by the stud bolts holding the cylinder in place. With the MXS GP90 90, this limitation was overcome by using a (patented) screw fastening instead of bolts; the transfer ports can now be shaped in the best possible way.
3-Part Exhaust Port
The MXS GP90 90 has an exhaust port that is divided into 3 ducts, 2 of them usually called boost ports. This increases the port surface and gas emission significantly when compared to "normal" exhaust ports. The 2 bridges forming the boost ports reduce pressure on the piston ring and consequently ensure maximum reliability.
Elaborate Cooling System
An aluminium liner redirecting the flow of the liquid coolant leads to an optimum dissipation of the heat generated by the cylinder. Special attention was paid to the exhaust duct by designing a "water chamber" encircling it. The temperature of the exhaust gases is lowered, and performance consequently improved.
Special Combustion Chamber
The MXS GP90 90 cylinder kit includes a standard cylinder head combustion chamber offering a good compromise between acceleration and top speed. In order to increase power, the MXS Racing team developed a special racing combustion chamber for the cylinder head. To avoid rotation when tightening / loosening the spark plug, the cover was equipped with a pin to block it properly during installation.
