Description

Stage6 R/T Torque Drive Oversize Torque Boost Piaggio for use with Stage6 R/T Oversize CVT as well as other oversize transmissions.

Unlike most torque drives on the market that are made of steel, the Stage6 Oversize drive is made from lightweight HQ aluminium. It consists of two forged halves that are screwed to a guide piece.The pulley halves are CNC-machined for ultimate precision, which is especially important for surface angles. Special attention is paid to ensure ideal surface roughness, as this has a major influence on shifting characteristics. A special ceramic coating preserves surface characteristics for extended life expectance and optimum grip.

Various spare parts / additional components make this torque drive a comprehensive modular system. Guide bushes as well as pulleys can be exchanged to meet individual needs. Advantages of the modular construction include reduced heat built-up, noticeably lower weight and the possibility to replace individual components.

Advantages modular system:

  • 3x guide bushes
    One of the stand-out features is the possibility to switch out the guide bushing. The guide bushing included with the pulley has 2 different slots (38° and 41° gradient) for adjusting pulley opening angle. Other guide pieces with 39°/42° or 37°/40° angles are also available; replacing the guides is easy (screw-on). This way you can opt for a different guide bushing with different slots for different pulley opening angles and speed.
  • 3x pulley types
    The pulleys are available in different versions / with different coatings: rough surface / ceramic coating; smooth surface / ceramic coating; smooth surface / uncoated. The additionally available versions can easily be mounted instead of the pulleys that come with the torque driver to optimize the grip of the V-belt and overall performance.

This oversize torque driver only makes sense when used in combination with an oversize variator and an oversize drive belt. We recommend the Stage6 R/T Oversize CVT and belt, but the torque driver can also be used with oversize products of other manufacturers.

Note: there is no grease included, please order separately.

rear pulley

The torque drive,  also called secondary or driven pulley, is an integral part of the automatic transmission on scooters. It is the counterpart to the variator or front pulley and forms the rear drive unit. The rear pulley is located at the rear of the CVT housing and forms a unit with the clutch. As with the front pulley, there are also tuning versions of the rear pulley.

Working of a CVT transmission

The front and rear pulley (variator and torque driver) work together and are interdependent. At idle, the V-belt rides on its highest position on the rear pulley and on its lowest position on the front pulley. When you accelerate and engine speed increases, the drive pulley in front turns faster and faster. The centrifugal force pushes the variator weights outwards, opening the front pulley. This opening forces the V-belt to move further and further away from the axle shaft. As the belt cannot be stretched and is under tension, it has to move inwards on the opposite side of the CVT.

This increases the speed of the wheel and the scooter becomes faster. As soon as the V-belt has reached its maximum position on the front pulley and its lowest position in the rear pulley, the maximum drive ratio is reached. Now the scooter can reach maximum speed until the maximum gear ratio is reached.

When braking, the variator in front opens and the torque drive at the rear closes. The contra spring assists the closing movement of the driven pulley so that the V-belt returns to its original position.

Tuning torque driver

The performance of the torque drive depends heavily on the torque spring. In addition to the pitch and surface finishing, which can affect the speed of the belt movement, the hardness of the contra spring must be adapted to the engine power. In general, the more powerful the engine, the harder the spring.

Oversize torque drives are also available, usually as part of a complete drive kit with oversize front pulley and matching V-belt, which increase the working range of the drive ratio.

The highest quality torque converters offer various improvements - anti-wear treatment, reinforced bearings, special coating for more grip, guide bushes with different angles, improved heat dissipation ...., i.e. even more fine-tuning and options. The finer the adjustment and the better it is matched to the setup, the higher the performance.

Il a vraiment une super accroche, il est vraiment léger , très performant, le seul "bémol" c'est le traitement céramique qui bouffe les courroies à une vitesse phénoménal .Le problème se résout facilement et rapidement avec quelques légère passent au papier de verre grain 500, le traitement légèrement atténué garde son accroche et ne bouffe plus les courroies.

Superbe pièce pour l 'avoir essayé ..je voudrais juste savoir si il existe un modèle pour l'adapter sur un moteur de Peugeot citystar avec déjà une grosse comfig..?

C'est le même diamètre que l'origine sûr mon aprilia sr moteur piaggio long, mais les pentes sont différentes et l'accroche bien meilleure.
Et pas besoin de fraisé le carter pour le rentrer ou pour la courroie

Certes c'est plus linéaire que le correcteur d'origine, mais bizarement, je trouve que je fonctionnai mieux avec de l'origine...
