Description

Top Performances, like some other big brands, has also approached the development of a high-end racing crankcase, and the result is a phenomenal tuning case featuring many innovations: Crankcase TPR Factory 100cc Piaggio. A state-of-the-art gem, absolute world class, there is currently not much room for further improvements when it comes to crankcase design. 

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

  • Made from 6082 Anticorodal (Al-Si-Mg-Mn Alloy).
  • For crankshafts with up to 47mm stroke with 95/96mm connecting rods, no modifications required.
  • Only for PVL inner rotor ignitions.
  • Can only be used with electric water pump.
  • Enlarged bearing seats.
  • Enlarged cooling passages.

PS: transmission and gears can stay the way they are (any brand can be mounted).

VARIABLE  CONSTRUCTION

Due to the modular structure of the case, you can choose between:

70cc / 100cc/ prototypes (by exchanging just one half), long / short swingarm, disc / drum brake, Piaggio / Minarelli.

INNOVATIONS

EXTENDED WHEELBASE: The wheelbase has been extended by shifting the position of the wheel axle by 10mm towards the rear and 10mm towards the ground. Chassis layout is improved, and you can shorten the  rear shock absorber by 10mm to reduce the inclination of intake and crankcase. 

INVERTED GEARBOX: The gearbox was inverted, with its opening to the outside. This gets rid of the gearbox cover, improving coaxial precision, moreover an o-ring guarantees optimal sealing. 

FLANGED OIL SEALS: The oil seals seats are flanged, which allows inserting both bearings in a single operation. Precision-seated oil seals and bearing plus optimal cylinder seat area with zero tolerances lead to highest concentricity and coaxiality reducing the load on crankshaft and bearings which in turn  leads to more power.

 INTEGRATED REMOVABLE SWINGARM: The connection diameter of the swingarm was completely revised, there is no infringing on the fastening holes for the exhaust like with many other cases. This allows a much more solid connection, two pins provide perfect alignment. In addition, the 14mm area is extremely robust.

IMPROVED INTAKE: The intake section has been radically redesigned. In addition to being able to use oversized reed valves and large carburetors, it also allows a better positioning of the carburetor with respect to the wheel. You can mount both oversized reed valves and standard valves, 60x40mm (e.g. AM6).

IMPROVED VENTILATION: The ventilation of the transmission was optimized. High temperatures in engine and transmission lead to severe problems, this case has two generous passages (in and out) as well as a mid-section outlet for the CVT. You can also add a bell mouth /  to further increase air intake.

INCREASED TRANSMISSION VOLUME: The space for the transmission is frequently too small for all components to move  freely and not enough room for the belt which may crack or break as a result. Pulley space was increased, 111mm for the variator and 145 for the torque drive. More space also means better heat dissipation.

ROBUST CONSTRUCTION

CRANKSHAFT:  The precision-seated crankshaft won’t budge, for guaranteed stable and robust operability. All the machining was done on a 5 Assi CNC milling machine (leader in automative industry).

TRANSMISSION: By using FEM (Finite ElementMethod), each half of the case is perfectly balanced / counterbalanced, effectively eliminating any twisting / torsion of the case that could potentially by the forces coming from the wheel axle. All components are perfectly aligned with centering pins. 

WHEEL AXLE: FEM simulations helped in enhancing the gearbox so even high stress loads can be dealt with easily.  Bearing seats were reinforced and misalignment of the gears with the potential to generate heat and decrease the power was eliminated. 

LARGER SCREWS: Every connection in a high-end crankcase should be as secure as possible so instead of the usual M6 aluminium screws, the TPR team went for M8 steel screws. Resistance is increased by +70% compared to M6.

SCREW CONNECTIONS: The crankcase halves and chambers are securely connected to guarantee reliable and long-lasting use. All connections are perfectly centered, and special attention was paid to the even distribution of screw load by positioning them equidistant from each other and from the centre. They are made of high strength stainless steel, with cylindrical head and M8 thread.
