Description
Stage6 has become a household name for top quality tuning components for 2-stroke scooters with CVT / variator. They are now branching out and are getting into the market for the increasingly popular 4-stroke scooters. Their new Stage6 72cc Racing Cylinder for Kymco / Sym / GY6 50cc 4-stroke models is a HQ performance-boosting tuning part. And just like with all other Stage6 products, the value you’ll get for your money is excellent.
The cylinder was developed for GY6 4-stroke engines and comes with a very resistant cast iron sleeve to achieve a perfect combination of high reliability and maximum performance. It has a displacement of 72cc, gained by expanding the cylinder bore, which results in a considerable boost to overall performance. Acceleration and engine response are noticeably improved.
It is a mid-race / sport cylinder fit for everyday use. One of the advantages of a 4-stroke engine is the fact that you don’t need any other tuning components to benefit from the power increase produced by this cylinder kit; you can run it with your original set-up. The only thing we recommend checking is the main jet, it may have to be readjusted.
Still - if you want even more power, we recommend combining the cylinder with a tuning variator, a derestricted CDI and a tuning exhaust.
The kit includes:
- Stage6 72cc 4-stroke racing cylinder
- high-compression CNC machined piston d. 47mm
- piston rings and gaskets
- installation manual
Info:
- The cylinder kit does not include a cylinder head, please use the original head. If you don't have a cylinder head, you might want to order one now.
- For some countries: the cylinder kit has no CE-marking / is not street-legal.
How to Install a cylinder on a scooter, motorcycle or moped
The cylinder or cylinder kit is the heart of the engine on scooters, motorcycles and mopeds. It consists of a cylinder, a piston with piston ring(s), a cylinder head and gaskets needed for installation.
The service life of a cylinder depends on whether it has been fitted correctly.
Tuning Level: Sport
We categorize our products into different performance levels Original, Sport, Racing and High End , so that our customers can choose the right parts for their setup. It is really important to combine parts that belong to the same tuning level, this is especially true for cylinders, crankshafts and exhausts.
The products listed under Sport yield better performance than Original parts. They may have technical differences, such as the use of higher quality materials, a larger displacement or a performance-enhancing design. They are suitable for everyday use and have a long service life.
Aluminium cylinders
Aluminium cylinders are more powerful than cast iron cylinders, but require more regular maintenance and must be combined with different components such as a reinforced crankshaft and a larger carburetor.
How to run in an aluminium cylinder?
Aluminium cylinders should be run in for about 200 kilometers , and you should use a fully synthetic engine oil.
Note: To ensure optimum performance and reliability, it is advisable to measure the squish clearance. Just have a look at our tutorial How to adjust squish clearance.
