Description

MOTIP Heat-Resistant Paint silver, 400ml. Nitrocellulose-based spray paint, longer-lasting and more resistant than acrylic paint.

This painting can withstand temperatures up to 800°C which makes it ideally suited for painting engine parts or brake calipers or any other parts that are usually made of untreated aluminium, steel or cast iron.

You do not need a primer, but you'll have to pretreat and prepare the surfaces properly - remove all dirt, dust, rust and other residues, they have to be perfectly clean!

For optimum results, let the paint dry, then heat for approx. 30 minutes (160 - 200°C) so it cures properly.

Notes and Safety

Spray Paints

Although our spray paints are mostly  universal paints that can be used on all surfaces, there are also special paints for rims, for parts exposed to extreme heat, rust protection paints, etc. In all cases, the surface must be properly prepared before applying the spray paint.

Painting with spray Paint

Preparation

  1. Before the new paint is applied, you must sand the surface! The surface cannot be smooth and shiny, but has to be relatively rough, so that the paint adheres well.
  2. Also make sure that the surface is degreased. Use a strong grease-dissolving product like brake cleaner.
  3. Cover the areas you don't want to paint with masking tape; it's best to mask generously.
  4. To make the paint look as specified and even, you should also apply a coat of primer. Make sure that the primer matches the material: For plastic parts, use a special plastic primer.
  5. Apply the primer in a dry and dust-free place.

Painting

  1. Read the instructions on the spray can carefully. You will usually find useful information, such as the distance from which to spray, the recommended temperature range, etc....
  2. It is best to spray in a dry, dust-free and ventilated place.
  3. Apply several coats to get an intense and even color. Tip: Apply thin coats and be sure to follow the drying times to avoid running!

Finishing

For a perfect finish, you can also apply a layer of clear coat, gloss or matte depending on the look you prefer.
Again, make sure you choose the right type of paint: For example, if you used acrylic paint, you'll need an acrylic clear coat. For components that are exposed to high temperatures, you will need heat-resistant high-temperature paint.

Paint care

To ensure that your paint job stays clean and shiny, you should store your vehicle in the shade in the summer and dry in the winter.
Storing it in a garage will protect the paint from aggressive UV rays and the elements. Alternatively, you can also use a bike cover or mobile garage.

Always clean your scooter, moped or motorcycle with suitable cleaning agents and soft, clean sponges, brushes and cloths. You can also use paint protection to keep the fairing clean and shiny.

If a simple cleaning is no longer enough to bring the surfaces back to a high gloss, you can use paint polish to refresh the colours.
