Scooter crankcases: essential, functional, high-performance

First and foremost, crankcases are designed to contain the oil and other vital engine components. Of course, some important components are not immersed in oil, but neither should they be exposed to it. They are therefore protected by covers.

Engine crankcase

Transmission and kickbox housings

Not everyone needs a complete crankcase, and that's just as well!

There are two main reasons for replacing a kickbox: either to restore it to its original appearance, or to improve cooling of the transmission. Some will also replace it simply for the tuning look!

The transmission casing is replaced when damaged or to improve performance: with better bearings, materials that dissipate heat better, reinforcements...

Professional advice

Please note that to replace certain parts, you'll need specialtools (to remove or refit bearings, for example), which we also offer in our shop.

Clean each part thoroughly with a degreasing agent.

You'll also need new gaskets, and gasket paste if necessary! You wouldn't want to take the whole thing apart again for a little gasket you neglected, would you?

Finally, use quality fluids (oil, coolant) to preserve all the parts you've just fitted.
