Description
Malossi is expanding their tuning catalogue for Vespa, this is the 218cc Power Cam Tuning Kit for Vespa GTS. At the heart of this high-end Power Cam performance kit is a top quality Nikasil-plated aluminium cylinder.
Displacement is increased by opening up the bore to 75.5mm. In direct comparison to its predecessor, the 209cc cylinder, riders will notice a considerable increase in torque performance. The 218cc cylinder can be used with the original as well as a Malossi V4 cylinder head.
The kit for carbureted engines includes a Malossi camshaft and a 4-valve cylinder head; the kit for injection engines also includes a Forcemaster 2 injection control module.
In combination with the right tuning components, output can even be increased by almost twice.
This means that you should definitely replace exhaust and other parts that affect performance with tuning parts (racing variator, racing exhaust, longer transmission etc.), otherwise you won't be able to fully exploit the power potential of this kit.
Attention, the following models require additional components:
PIAGGIO Leader 125ccm i.e. 4T LC engines after 09/14 (APRILIA SR Max 125 i.e./ GILERA Nexus 125 i.e./ PIAGGIO Beverly 125 i.e./MP3 125 i.e./X7 125 i.e./ VESPA GTS 125 i.e.)
- MALOSSI camshaft art. no. M5911962,
and the following Piaggio parts:
- 1x gear for cam chain art. no. (OE-PIA) 877771,
- 1x exhaust valve art. no. (OE-PIA) B0184845,
- 1x inlet valve art. no. (OE-PIA) B0184835,
- 2x pin for valve rocker arm art. no. (OE-PIA) 486343.
Not using those components can lead to severe engine damage!
How to Install a cylinder on a scooter, motorcycle or moped
The cylinder or cylinder kit is the heart of the engine on scooters, motorcycles and mopeds. It consists of a cylinder, a piston with piston ring(s), a cylinder head and gaskets needed for installation.
The service life of a cylinder depends on whether it has been fitted correctly.
Tuning Level: Racing
We categorize our products into different performance levels Original, Sport, Racing and High End , so that our customers can choose the right parts for their setup. It is really important to combine parts that belong to the same tuning level, this is especially true for cylinders, crankshafts and exhausts.
Racing products are designed for a more extreme uses and are developed primarily for racing. Whether you stay at 50cc or increase the displacement, the corresponding Racing parts produce much higher performance than the original parts in order to achieve maximum power.
Aluminium cylinders
Aluminium cylinders are more powerful than cast iron cylinders, but require more regular maintenance and must be combined with different components such as a reinforced crankshaft and a larger carburetor.
How to run in an aluminium cylinder?
Aluminium cylinders should be run in for about 200 kilometers , and you should use a fully synthetic engine oil.
Note: To ensure optimum performance and reliability, it is advisable to measure the squish clearance. Just have a look at our tutorial How to adjust squish clearance.
