Description

Scar starter kit

Why mount a starter kit ?

The starter kit, also called holeshot kit or fork block, is an essential item in competition! It allows to keep the fork compressed and to lower the front of the bike. This allows you to load the front of the bike more easily, to put more weight on it and to avoid excessive "Wheeling". You can therefore extract yourself more quickly from the grid.
Of course, the kit won't teach you how to position yourself perfectly on the bike or how to have incredible reflexes. It will however help you a lot to stay on the bike and will make your life easier after you have practiced to aim for the holeshot at the first corner!

How to assemble your holeshot kit ?

To properly mount your holeshot kit, you have to respect some rules and be methodical.
If the ring is generally easily mounted on the fork tube thanks to the pivots system, the button requires a little more work. We explain:

  • Distance between the knob and the bushing
    • Depending on your ambitions and the conditions, it is possible to vary this distance.
    • We recommend leaving a gap between the ring and the button ofabout 10 to 12cm.
    • Less than 10cm, the holeshot kit will risk being unlocked too easily.
    • More than 12cm, the holeshot kit will be difficult to engage by itself and it will be likely to remain blocked even after the first braking
  • Steps to drill the fork protector
    • Place a masking tape on the back of the button
    • With a marker, mark the holes (1 for the button, 4 for the screws)
    • Take the tape and stick it on the front of your fork protector, at the desired height
    • Drill on your marker to a suitable diameter (depending on the diameter of the screws and the button)
    • Turn the fork protector over and slightly bevel the holes so that the knob screws do not protrude once mounted
    • If everything has been drilled properly, you can mount your button without difficulty

Note: do not tighten the ring too much on your fork cover! This could interfere with the proper performance of the suspension.
