Description
Polini For Race - Digital ignition for Piaggio 2-stroke
The Polini For Race digital ignition is built for high-performance tuning in racing environments. It combines modern electronics with uncompromising performance, designed specifically for Piaggio 50cc 2-stroke engines such as the Zip, NRG, or Runner.
The system includes a 75 mm stator and a rotor, both made from high-quality materials. The components are engineered for minimal rotating mass, delivering sharp throttle response and strong acceleration.
features polini for race ignition:
Maximum power with minimal inertia:The ultra-light rotor significantly reduces the flywheel mass and thus ensures more agile engine characteristics and spontaneous revving - ideal for sporty setups and racing applications.
Integrated power supply: The ignition delivers 12 V at 30/40 W output power, sufficient for operating lighting or other electrical components. For the best possible light output, the use of modern LED bulbs is recommended.

Two maps to choose from:
Map 1: For standard engines or setups with Polini For Race components (medium tuning level).
Map 2: For powerful high-end engines where maximum performance is paramount.
Note: This ignition system is intended for racing use only. While it does support lighting, brightness is below OEM standards and only partially suitable for street use.
Polini For Race
The For Race series from Polini includes exhausts as well as crankshafts and clutches for scooters, 50cc supermotos and Vespas. Although the name sounds like ultra-high-quality and high-performance racing parts, this is not quite true.
The exhausts are not road-legal and are theoretically only intended for use on the race track, but due to their performance, which focuses mainly in the lower and medium RPM range, they are more suitable for sports / entry level tuning setups, which are appreciated for their balanced ratio of performance and reliability for everyday use.
The crankshafts are also suitable for sports cylinders, as are the few For Race clutches.
Polini fans looking for maximum power for the racetrack should therefore opt for the Evolution or even the P.R.E. series.
Inner Rotor Ignition
An internal rotor ignition is a racing ignition designed to increase performance. Inner rotor ignitions are designed for motorsports and competition, in rare cases they also provide power for vehicle lighting. (e.g. the MVT ignition).
Advantages of an internal rotor ignition
Inner rotor ignitions are the ultimate choice for the race track, they are however not really suitable for street use.
The compact and lightweight internal rotor puts less weight on the crankshaft and allows for quick revving, very high engine speeds and an enormous power increase at high rpm.
Another advantage is that this type of ignition is less susceptible to moisture than standard ignitions.
Tip: You may want to consider a tuning ignition cover with additional holes / cutouts to improve ventilation.
Disadvantages of an internal rotor ignition
RPMs increase faster due to the lower mass, this will affect torque at low RPMs, though. Therefore, internal rotor ignitions are only worthwhile for racing, because on the racetrack you'll constantly stay at high engine speeds.
Installing and adjusting an internal rotor ignition
Installing an internal rotor ignition requires technical knowledge and careful adjustments to keep the engine running optimally and really optimize performance. We recommend our tutorial to learn how to install and adjust an internal rotor ignition.
