Hour meter for motorcycles - how it works
An hour meter on your motorcycle is a small electronic device that records the running time of the engine. It is usually connected to the spark plug connector and measures how long the engine has actually been running.
There are also wireless models that work via the vibrations of the running engine.
You can read the recorded data directly on a digital display on the meter - or, with some models, via an app on your smartphone.
Why an hour meter makes sense
The biggest advantage: you always have your maintenance interval in view. Based on the recorded engine hours, you can easily see when wear parts such as pistons, connecting rods or valves are due - or simply ensure that oil changes and other service work are carried out on time.
The counter can also provide valuable information when buying a used machine: for example, how many hours the engine has run in total or how carefully the previous owner carried out maintenance.
