Description
The silicone surface seal Loctite SI 5926 is a universal and elastic silicone seal. It cures under the influence of humidity to a tough but flexible silicone rubber seal.
Typical applications include valve covers, oil pans, differential covers or water pumps.
Temperature range is between -50 °C to 205 °C.
Sealing compound
As the name suggests, sealant is used to seal components. There are different brands, compositions, applications, colours and more or less heat-resistant type of sealant.
Liquid sealants and silicones are an absolute must-have for every workshop, but they are only really necessary in certain cases. Most of the time, they are first and foremost repair aids and do not replace a real repair job.
Therefore, it is usually better to use the intended special seals and gaskets, even if silicone and sealant well help to seal the parts.
Please note that sealants and silicones cannot be used everywhere! They, for example, cannot replace oil seals or O-rings.
