Carburetor Tuning for Your Scooter
Just like the clutch, variator, or internal rotor ignition, the carburetor needs proper tuning, especially after upgrades or modifications. With our Mikuni jets, you can significantly improve your scooter’s performance and reliability.
You can easily check the setting using the spark plug:
If the plug is white, the air-fuel mixture is too lean, meaning not enough fuel is being drawn in. In this case, gradually increase the size of the Mikuni jet, starting in increments of 5, then fine-tuning in increments of 2.
If the plug is oily and black, the mixture is too rich, meaning too much fuel relative to the air intake. Reduce the jet size accordingly.
A tan plug indicates perfect tuning: normal fuel consumption, maximum power, and optimal protection against piston seizure or overheating—damage that would be far more costly than a properly sized Mikuni jet.
