The scooter variator differs a lot from a manual transmission found in "normal" motorcycles. It is a CVT (= Continuously Variable Transmission) which means that gear shifting occurs without any further action of the pilot. The transmission of power takes place grace to the complementary interaction of the variator itself, the torque control, the clutch and the drive belt. This automatic transmission works using centrifugal forces; it is equipped with centrifugal rollers of differing weight which move inside the variator tracks so the position of the V-belt changes; the belt transmits the power onto the clutch. Whether it’s an original CVT that needs to be replaced or whether you’re interested in an Oversize kit for your tuned engine, we carry all kinds of scooter variators for small money. The OEM quality standard models are basically identical to the original transmissions and come with three different sets of weights, so it can be adapted to most scooters available on the market. The Sport variators are designed for owners of scooters which underwent some light tuning. If you have a powerful tuned engine, we recommend using an oversize, or overrange, CVT; they have bigger diameters and optimised tracks for the weights.
