Simson - A legend on two wheels

The story of Simson began in 1856, when visionary entrepreneur Moses Simson founded an arms factory in Suhl, Germany. While initially specializing in the production of rifle barrels, the company gradually diversified its range over time.

Simson - Getting into two-wheelers

The turning point for Simson in the world of two-wheelers came in the 1920s, when the company started producing bicycles. But it was the period after World War II that made Simson a true symbol of mobility. The first motorcycles rolled off the production line in the late 1940s, and models like the Simson AWO 425 soon became popular and dependable companions on the road. In the following decades, Simson established itself as one of the leading motorcycle manufacturers in the GDR. The legendary Simson Schwalbe, a moped with cult status, captured the hearts of many riders and embodied the spirit of mobility in a time of change. The Simson brand stood for quality, innovation and the pride of an entire nation.

With the reunification of Germany and the economic changes of the 1990s, Simson faced new challenges. Production was modernized and the brand continued to focus on quality and tradition. Nevertheless, Simson had to cease production in 2003, marking the end of an era.

Simson Schwalbe - Fly like a Swallow

The Simson Schwalbe (German Schwalbe = swallow) is a GDR moped manufactured by Simson in Suhl. The first series designation of the Schwalbe from 1964 was KR 51, with the letters "KR" standing for Kleinroller meaning small scooter, the "5" for the size of the engine displacement of 50 cm³ and the "1" serving to distinguish it from its predecessor, the KR 50. More than 1,000,000 units were sold in the period 1964 - 1986.

Simson - Popular models

Despite the closure of its factories, the legend of Simson lives on and the vehicles are cherished by fans around the world.
