Italjet Formula 125 - General information
At the first presentation of the Formula 125 in Imola, the engineers were met with open mouths. And rightly so, as the two-wheeler was given a special feature that was well worth seeing.
The Italjet Formula 125 was the first modern scooter with a two-cylinder, two-stroke engine. And it didn't even use its full power. Of the permitted 125cc and 15 hp, "only" 114cc and 13 hp were used, which is quite respectable. With a decent engine, the Formula 125 reaches an impressive 140 km/h.
Italjet 125 - Engine
The heart of the Italjet Formula 125 scooter is the liquid-cooled 125cc engine, which not only ensures impressive performance, but also remarkable efficiency. For the first time, 2 cylinders have been installed here, which is of course a highlight, but also brings technical innovations. The designers of professional Franco Morini used the single cylinder of the Formula 50 and gave it a stroke of 43 mm instead of 37.5 mm with the same bore, resulting in 114cc.
Its cooling technology enables optimum temperature control, even during intensive use, which guarantees the longevity of the engine and at the same time ensures outstanding performance. The mixture is prepared in a carburetor and the engine is started by kick starter or electric.
Italjet Formula - Chassis
The chassis, almost identical to that of the Formula 50, easily copes with any riding style. This may be due to the front wheel suspension, a steering knuckle, the geometry of which prevents the fork from dipping when braking. The front suspension consists of an adjustable shock absorber and the rear suspension of a monoshock shock absorber. The brake system consists of front and rear disc brakes (Ø 175mm).
