Gilera Runner 200cc 4-Stroke
The Gilera Runner 200cc is one of the best-known sport maxi-scooters from the 2000s and 2010s. The model was produced from around 2003 to 2018.
There were two main versions in the 200cc class: the Gilera Runner VXR 200 (2002 to 2008), the original sport version of the first generation, including a later facelifted version, and the Gilera Runner ST 200 "Sport Touring" (2008 to 2017/2018). This final version features a slightly taller windshield integrated into the fairing for improved wind protection, redesigned headlights, modified rear grab handles, new graphics and colors, and an analog-digital speedometer with a new dial. Slightly revised seat padding, combined with the seating position, provides greater comfort on longer rides. The model was also adapted to meet the Euro 3 standard through minor changes to the carburetor and exhaust.
The most significant update came in 2005, when the model was completely redesigned. The rounded shape and dual headlights of the first generation (2002 to 2005) were replaced by an angular, sporty design with free-form headlights. The wheel sizes also increased, from 12" to 14" at the front and from 12" to 13" at the rear. An analog-digital instrument cluster with a backlit LCD display was added as well. The front brake disc grew from 220 mm to 240 mm and was paired with a new caliper. A reinforced frame improved torsional rigidity, while the under-seat storage compartment could now be opened using the central ignition switch instead of a separate side lock.
