Gilera Runner 200cc 4-stroke
The Gilera Runner 200cc is one of the most iconic sport maxi-scooters of the 2000s and 2010s. It was manufactured from approximately 2003 to 2018.
Within the 200cc displacement range, there were two main versions: the Gilera Runner VXR 200 (2002–2008), the initial sport model available in both the first generation and the restyled version, and the Gilera Runner ST 200 "Sport Touring" (2008–2017/2018), the model’s final evolution featuring a slightly taller front windscreen integrated into the fairing for greater aerodynamic protection, tweaks to the headlights, rear handles, paint schemes, and graphics; an analog-digital instrument panel with an updated background; minor adjustments to the seat padding and riding position for greater comfort on long trips; and compliance with Euro 3 regulations through slight adjustments to the carburetion and exhaust system.
The most radical change to the model came in 2005, when Gilera carried out a complete redesign: it moved from the rounded lines and round headlights of the first generation (2002–2005) to a sharp, sporty design with slanted multi-focus headlights, the wheel sizes were increased (from 12" to 14" in the front and 13" in the rear), a combined analog-digital instrument panel with a backlit LCD screen was added, the front brake disc was enlarged (from 220 mm to 240 mm) with a new caliper, the frame was reinforced to increase torsional rigidity, and the seat lock was changed from an independent side lock to one integrated into the central ignition lock.
