Peugeot Speedfight 100 2-stroke (1998-2000)

The Speedfight 100 2T was Peugeot's answer to those who felt that the iconic Speedfight 50 lacked power without sacrificing its sporty DNA. Produced between 1998 and 2000, it stood out with the unmistakable Speedfight look: sharp lines, compact proportions, and a surprisingly comfortable riding position for everyday use. This mix of racing aesthetics and real-world usability made it a compelling option in the two-stroke urban scooter segment.

The air-cooled 100cc two-stroke engine offers very good responsiveness even at low RPM, making city riding effortless while also handling back roads and faster stretches with ease.

Compared to the 50cc, the Speedfight 100 offers a much more relaxed ride as it requires fewer revs to maintain speed. It is a classic two-stroke: simple and reliable, but dependent on good tuning of the carburetor, exhaust and variator. Its lively character, coupled with its low weight, makes it particularly agile in city traffic.

Maintenance, tuning and conclusion

Maintaining a Speedfight 100 2-stroke is straightforward if you are familiar with classic two-stroke technology. It does not require a great deal of technical effort: it is sufficient to ensure good lubrication, clean the carburetor from time to time and keep an eye on the wear of the V-belt and CVT rollers. The mechanics are robust and reward regular maintenance with long service life.

The range of tuning options is smaller than for the 50cc Speedfight, but still available. There are special exhausts, carburetors and other parts that give the scooter more power and better responsiveness without compromising its original reliability. There are also visual tuning parts such as: LED indicators, grips, levers, decal kits and stickers, mirrors and much more.

The Peugeot Speedfight 100 2-stroke still appeals to riders looking for bold, sporty styling and a well-executed, timeless design. Compact, confidence-inspiring, and exceptionally agile, it delivers a riding feel many modern four-stroke scooters can’t quite match. All in all, it’s a characterful choice for anyone who values the simplicity and punchy response of a two-stroke engine in a nimble, comfortable, and well-balanced package.
