Peugeot Speedfight 4 50 4T

The Peugeot Speedfight is a true classic when it comes to sporty 50cc scooters in Europe. Since its release in 1997, the Speedfight has been characterised by its very distinctive look, a carefully designed chassis and agile handling in city traffic. Throughout the various generations – Speedfight 1, 2, 3 and 4 – the model has received technical and equipment improvements, while always maintaining its sporty approach for daily urban use.

The Speedfight 1 (1997–2000) introduced a 50cc 2-stroke engine with a vertical cylinder, available in air- or liquid-cooled versions. Its aggressive design and agile handling quickly made it a reference among European sports scooters. In 2000, the Speedfight 2 arrived, which retained the vertical 2-stroke engine base but featured a comprehensive redesign of the front, rear and lighting. This further strengthened the model's sporty image and improved key components such as the front suspension with an anti-dive system.

The Speedfight 3 (2009–2019) represented a significantly more radical step. Peugeot completely redesigned the fairing with sharper and more modern lines, and introduced a new 2-stroke engine with a horizontal cylinder and an electronic Dell'Orto oil pump, improving reliability and performance compared to previous generations. More importantly, this generation saw the appearance of the first 50cc 4-stroke versions, based on the GY6/SYM engine, to meet increasingly strict emission regulations and ensure lower fuel consumption. The Speedfight 3 was marketed in many versions and special editions (Darkside, Ice Blade, Le Mans etc.), both as 2-stroke and 4-stroke, with air or liquid cooling.

The Speedfight 4 (since 2015) continues this development with mainly visual and equipment changes. The front and rear were redesigned once again, with sharper fairing parts and modernised lighting. The base of the 50cc 2-stroke (horizontal cylinder) and 50cc 4-stroke engines from the Speedfight 3 remains, but adapted to Euro 4 (2014–2020) and Euro 5 (2021–present) standards. In the European market, the range has gradually focused more on the 4-stroke AC engine, the 50 4T version is currently the most frequently sold model.

In this context, the Peugeot Speedfight 4 50 4T is positioned as the four-stroke version for those who prioritise low fuel consumption, compliance with the latest emission standards (Euro 5) and easy maintenance, without sacrificing the aggressive look and dynamic behaviour of the Speedfight family.
