Yamaha BW's Spy
Yamaha BW's Spy and MBK Booster Rocket are scooter models that share the same technical base due to Yamaha's acquisition of MBK. Although they have identical specifications, they are marketed under different names. In several countries, the model is known as the Yamaha Zuma, adding to the complexity.
Yamaha Spy: A little background
The Yamaha BWs / MBK Booster scooters appeared in the late 1980's, but faced competition from Piaggio and Peugeot, who offered street-oriented scooters. In response, Yamaha introduced two new models of their flagship scooter in 1995:
- Yamaha BW's Spy (12-inch wheels)
- MBK Booster Rocket (12-inch wheels)
- MBK Booster / Yamaha BW's Next Generation (10-inch wheels)
Spy and Rocket are completely redesigned Booster / BW's versions featuring a modern design that remains appealing even today. The scooters underwent significant improvements, including a larger helmet compartment capable of accommodating a jet helmet, as well as a revamped chassis, making them more attractive and practical for everyday use.
The scooters Yahama Spy was produced until 2006.
