Performance exhausts 50cc gear Bike

Stock exhausts are generally designed primarily to keep noise levels as low as possible, which can come at the expense of performance. Maximum power is reached relatively early, high rpm is not sufficiently supported, and the rev range is not extended. Sport and racing exhausts, on the other hand, offer less torque at low rpm but significantly more power at high rpm. They are, however, noticeably louder.

Tuning exhaust categories

Sport exhaust for geared Bikes: setup

On 50cc gear bikes, just like on scooters, the carburetor should be readjusted using different main jets. The gearing can also be adjusted by changing the front sprocket (smaller for more torque) or the rear sprocket (larger for more torque).

Note that some 50cc models are also restricted via the CDI, which limits engine rpm. In this case, a sport exhaust cannot deliver its full potential.

Racing and high-end exhaust: setup and maintenance

If choosing an exhaust from these categories, it usually goes along with a more extensive tuning setup, for example for track use (with racing or high-end cylinders).

Here as well, carburetor tuning needs to be adjusted to achieve good throttle response across all rpm ranges.

In terms of maintenance, exhausts in these categories are generally neither painted nor chrome-plated. To prevent rust, the surface should be cleaned and oiled regularly.

Useful info:

Many tuning exhausts are neither painted nor chrome-plated and are therefore not well protected against rust. This should be considered if reduced maintenance is preferred.

Keep in mind that a wide range of spare parts for exhaust maintenance and repair is available. A complete replacement is not always necessary.

To avoid damage, consulting a specialist workshop is recommended.
