Tires and Rims for Scooters

Scooters and maxi-scooters have a specific feature that distinguishes them from motorcycles: they have relatively small wheels, generally between 10 and 13 inches.

As with motorcycles, the rims are mostly cast aluminum. This offers several advantages, such as not having to use a tube (tubeless mounting) and reducing maintenance effort (no spokes to tighten).

Maintenance, Repair and Tuning Rims

As with all two-wheelers, it is necessary to maintain the wheels; additionally, you can improve both the appearance and performance.

Maintenance and Repair

Regarding the tires, you must monitor their condition: they must be able to drain water correctly (sufficient tread), must not show any cracks, must be inflated to the recommended pressure, and must be adapted to the current season.

For older models and vintage Vespas, the retro look can be maintained with whitewall tires.

For the rims, the bearings must rotate freely and must not show any abnormal play. The axles must be in perfect condition, as must the bolts.

Tip: It is best to follow the manufacturer's recommendations regarding dimensions, speed and load index, pressure, or tightening torque.

Tuning Rims

In the tuning sector, there are special lightweight rims for racing (for example from Polini), dragster rims and complete wide tire kits with widened rims (Kiesler). You will also find rim tapes, special stickers and tire valves in original designs in our shop.
