Malossi Drive Belt "X-Special" Yamaha Aerox / BW's
Description
Malossi drive belt - ideally suited for sports and mid-race cylinders.
These belts are made of a "soft" rubber compound giving them excellent grip even when the engine (or the outside temperature) is cold. They are a little wider than the original belts which will (slightly) increase top speed.
For vertical/horizontal Minarelli engines (long).
Note: the V-belt M6112730 is no longer manufactured and is replaced by M6118140. Don't panic - same application, same quality, the dimensions are slightly different.
Malossi Special Belt
The Malossi Special Belt drive belt is designed for scooters and mopeds with sport / entry level tuning setups.
Although it is a reinforced belt compared to the original (thanks to polyester inserts), which also offers better grip, it is not suitable for engines with extremely high power.
For highly tuned engines, you should use the XK belt.
When to change the V-belt?
On scooters, the engine power is transmitted to the rear wheel via the V-belt or drive belt, which connects the CVT variator to the torque drive. As a rule, it should be replaced every 10,000 to 20,000 km. The belt slips when it is heavily worn. By the way, a new belt also slips and needs a short run-in period.
How to change the drive belt?
Replacing the V-belt is a relatively easy, you don't need advanced technical know-how. The first step is to remove the variator cover to get to the variator. You'll need a piston stopper and a blocking tool to remove the CVT and clutch bell. You can then remove the worn V-belt and replace it with the new one. When reassembling, make sure that the V-belt is properly seated and has the correct tension.
Here's a little tutorial on How to change the CVT and drive belt (English Subs).
